About DSIP+
About DSIP
Delta sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP) is a nine-amino-acid peptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu). Schoenenberger and Monnier isolated it from rabbit blood in Basel and reported in 1977 that, infused into the brain fluid of rabbits, the synthetic peptide increased slow-wave (delta) and spindle activity on the EEG (Schoenenberger and Monnier, PNAS 1977). Small human studies followed in the 1980s and early 1990s. Some, including studies co-authored by Schoenenberger, reported better sleep in people with insomnia, but independent double-blind studies found little difference from placebo; in a 16-patient trial the effects were weak and may partly have reflected a chance change in the placebo group (Bes et al., Neuropsychobiology 1992). Decades on, the gene, the precursor protein and a receptor for DSIP have still not been identified, and its link to sleep is regarded as poorly documented (Kovalzon and Strekalova, 2006). How it would act, whether the form first described is what the body makes, and its long-term safety remain open questions. Supplied for laboratory research use only.
Mechanism
How DSIP acts is not known. No receptor for it has been identified, and the gene and precursor protein that would produce it have not been found. Small studies in healthy men gave conflicting results on whether it lowers the stress hormone ACTH, one reporting a fall and another no change.

Storage and handling
- Sealed and lyophilised, store at 2 to 8°C away from light and moisture. Minus 20°C for longer.
- Once reconstituted, keep refrigerated and avoid repeated freeze and thaw cycles.
- Bacteriostatic water is the usual diluent. The volume added sets the concentration in mg per mL.
- Vials carry a batch number for your laboratory records. Recent independent lab results are published in our COA Library.
FAQs
Can I order a single vial of DSIP without a minimum order?+
Yes. The single-vial range exists precisely so a laboratory can take one vial of DSIP rather than a full Factory Direct kit of 10. There is no minimum order quantity on this format.
How quickly does a DSIP single vial ship in the UK?+
Single vials are held in our UK facility and dispatched within 24 hours of a cleared payment on working days, on a tracked UK service. Orders placed at the weekend go out on the next working day.
How does the single vial differ from the factory-direct box?+
The compound and the manufacturing source are the same. The Factory Direct kit is a 10-vial pack and a lower per-vial cost, while the single vial is one vial from UK stock for small-scale or pilot work.
What purity is stated for DSIP?+
≥99% manufacturer-stated purity. Buyers are encouraged to run independent third-party verification, and our testing directory lists laboratories that perform it.
Is this DSIP vial for human use?+
No. Every Peptx product, including the single-vial range, is supplied strictly for laboratory research. It is not for human consumption, diagnosis, treatment or any clinical use.
What is DSIP?+
Delta sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP) is a nine-amino-acid peptide first isolated from rabbit blood by Schoenenberger and Monnier, who reported in 1977 that it increased slow-wave EEG activity in rabbits. It is supplied here for laboratory research use only.
How does DSIP work?+
Its mechanism is unknown. No receptor has been identified, and the gene that would produce it has never been found.
What did the human sleep studies find?+
Small studies in the 1980s and early 1990s gave inconsistent results. Some reported better sleep in people with insomnia, but independent double-blind trials found weak or no differences from placebo (Bes et al., 1992).
How is DSIP stored?+
Store the freeze-dried powder sealed, cold and away from light, following standard laboratory peptide storage procedures. See the product specifications for detailed storage requirements.
