Questions
- What is bacteriostatic water?
- Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol. The benzyl alcohol is a preservative that holds back bacterial growth, which is why a bacteriostatic vial can be used more than once. It is the standard diluent for lyophilised (freeze-dried) research peptides.
- What is the difference between bacteriostatic water and sterile water?
- Sterile water has no preservative, so it is meant to be used once and the rest discarded. Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative, so the same vial can be used again.
- Which size should I choose?
- The 3 ml and 10 ml vials are the smaller formats and the cheapest way to add water to an order. The 30 ml vials from Hospira and Genetek are multi-dose vials from established manufacturers, for researchers who prefer a larger, branded vial.
- How should bacteriostatic water be stored?
- Keep unopened vials at room temperature, away from direct light. Once a vial is opened, follow the storage and discard guidance printed on its label.
- How quickly will it arrive?
- Can I add bacteriostatic water to a peptide order?
- Yes. There is no minimum, and it counts towards free UK delivery and the multi-buy discount on UK Express orders.
